Aetna Health Insurance Plan Options - Post-65 Plans

Build Your Own Plan From a Menu of Options

In 2008, the Emeriti Program provides a menu of choices for your medical and prescription drug (Medicare Part D) needs. All plan options are underwritten by Aetna.*

Step 1

  • Two are Medicare Supplement Plans, which build on what Medicare Parts A and B cover.
  • Two are Private Fee-for-Service (PFFS) Plans (Medicare Advantage Plans) that fall under Medicare Part C. PFFS Plans must provide all the benefits covered under Medicare and providers are reimbursed at the Medicare allowable rates.

NOTE: If you want Emeriti medical coverage, you must also select an Rx Plan.

For a detailed comparision of the provisions for all the medical options, click here.

Step 2

  • Two are enhanced prescription drug options with Aetna's Medicare open formulary, which includes coverage for all Medicare Part D medications. There are varying levels of coinsurance for generic, preferred brand, and non-preferred brand drugs.
  • The third Rx plan is a basic Medicare Part D benefit with Aetna's Medicare closed formulary, requring you to use only those medications covered onAetna's preferred drug list. The closed formulary includes all the same generic drugs as the open formulary but not all of the brand name drugs. All other Medicare Part D medications will be excluded from coverage unless a medical exception is obtained.

NOTE: You can choose the basic Rx plan as a stand-alone option with no medical coverage.

For a detailed comparision of the provisions for all the Rx options, click here.

Step 3

You can elect Aetna-underwritten dental coverage, in addition to any of the medical/drug combinations you choose.

NOTE: You cannot select the dental plan on a stand-alone basis.
